It's been minute (that's probably how I began my last several post). But, once again... it has. The summer has gone quicker than I ever expected. I feel like I took my last final a couple of weeks ago. Low and behold, I have less than a month until I'm back in class (I would of thrown an F bomb before "class" but my mom reads this sometimes. What's good, Ma). The Hampton routine will be intact sooner than I know it and that is something that I just cannot fade. So as I continue my usual free-styled post, I am going to tune into this "Girls, Girls, Girls" instrumental and try my best not to think about the peninsula that I live on for most of the year. Let me stop crying though, because some of my Hamptonian brothers have bigger issues to worry about (Tuition, tuition, tuition). And I pray that they make it back to finish the task at hand: Getting a degree.

MY LIFE IS CHANGING. Things are more confusing as each day goes by. Maybe confusing is the wrong wording... Let me rephrase. As my life progresses, I am coming closer and closer to the crucial decisions that will affect my life forever. Decisions this important cannot be taken lightly and you can never be 100% sure of them. It is all about luck. However, as I try to get back into my religious upbringing (which got me most of the way thus far), I can also say it's about faith.

On the other hand, my eyes are starting to see my last name. Bread. Mugga. Currency. It's on my mind more than ever. Levels of wealth are becoming more obvious to me in everyday life. It might be the environment I am in sometimes (the tennis one). Whatever it is, it is making me sniff out ways to obtain bread, because I'm not trying to be in my Mom duke's basement all my life. I find myself networking more with important people (when we say "important people" do we really mean important, or do we actually mean wealthy? It may depend on the situation), discussing my major, finding common grounds and interest, not only to stretch the conversation but to see how they made it. As devastating as a corporate title may sound, these people were all in the same situation at some point. Race, prior thought, or whathaveyou are not reasons for me to bite my tongue. We are all human. The shy kid who would hesitate to speak to people with a crowd around them is no more. It's game time. I'm young, handsome and in my prime. I always felt mature, but now I see it in my actions; which shows that I actually am maturing. Instead of browsing clothing to continue the hipsters-ish look that people are use to seeing me in, I find myself trying to blossom my suit collection. Trust me, I don't think I will ever toss my sneaks or street wear, however, I've acquired a taste for skinny ties instead of skinny jeans. Plus, if I'm really about this dental school life, deep v-necks and jeans with knee creased honey-combs aren't going to look to professional behind a white coat. I'm trying to put together a successful career and not just a job. I've realized that job money is always available, but career bread is long standing and colossal. Longstanding money is the easier route to wealthy (unless you hit the lottery... but even most Lotto winners are already packing substantial sums in their wallets). With all of the different skills and hobbies that I want to acquire, long standing bread is (in the words of the throne MC), "SO NECESSARY."

You know, what else represents maturity? A girlfriend. But, I won't get into that in this post. That's another conversation.

Before you start reading anything, I want you to go click here and open the link in a new tab: DOM KENNEDY - ON THE WAY HOME. That way you can feel what I'm saying just a bit more. Well, since I've been home I've been sober and intoxicated, an early bird and nocturnal, I've made ammends and had my jaw broken with a pipe, but most of all I have been reacquainted with most of the people that I am closest too. My family and friends ride or die.

The only thing that has been missing this summer is new company. When I say that I do not mean, "Ayo baby yo baby yo... that I noticed you too." (Fresh Prince). But I mean moreso, "you and your friends get with my friends and we can be friends." I seem to enjoy the summer the most when it is my friends, who I could write a novel about (each of you individually), with new unfamiliar company. With that being said, what's up? If we haven't kicked it since highschool we owe each other some quality time. Don't be shy, our time together won't be awkward because I'll make sure to keep the conversation going in my own way (actually, it might be awkward because I drawl, haha). I'm sure we should all have a lot to talk about.

In the beginning of my summer vacation I was snapping shoots from the shotgun perspective of some of my friends vehicles. There was no need to lug my camera around when the iPhone 4 camera shoots better than most phones. I felt like I was all over the city for the first couple days home, so I would snap I shot when I thought about it from whatever area I might have been in at the moment. Looking at this pictures reminds me of old post that could easily be found throughout this blog. Finally, finally, finally. It is starting to feel like summer.

It's crazy how things can change in just a year,

or better yet, in six months. A life can change and a project can flourish in this short amount of time. An entire new perspective can manage to spark, simply due to one image or happening... and change someones thoughts forever. The change can be good or bad, ugly, fulfilling, mind altering or passed by. Life's trials and tribulations are unexplainable and can never be expected no matter how philosophical one might think they are. A person can live the same way an entire lifetime while another person indulges in new experience and challenges on a weekly basis. One person maybe content with the daily repetition and tradition that they might encounter while another person might dread it. It's crazy how life works. Our happiness is based on our mentalities.

None of this would have went down if patience was persistent. Don't expect you to wait, but you're suppose to wait for what's real, right? Ha. I'm off that romantic bullshit, life is too real. Ladies take your romantic comedies and love stories out of the DVD players and place them back in their designated cases. While your at it, accidentally scratch the readable portion of the disc. I'm doing you a favor so you don't contradict yourself after getting filled up over an Owen Wilson line.

If you know me and we're close, you know that I hate to talk about my problems because I feel like I'm burdening you with information. Well, to be honest I know I'm a strong person to be as focused as I am with all the problems that I've faced over the years (most of them noone knows about). I listen to some of you croon and cry about your issues (like you were trying to be featured in a remake of one wish by Ray J) and to some of you my immediate reaction is: Stop bitching. However, I sometimes bite my lip so you feel important. I'm not saying my problems are worst then yours, I'm just saying don't cry over stuff that can be fixed. Simple as that. The people with real problems are usually the ones that don't talk about them much.

I wish some people would understand that my relationship with them never changed, but circumstances around me might have. Adapting to new environments while coping with the same evolved problems can take a great amount out of you. Therefore, the attention one may have felt they deserved at the time, might not have been present. Don't think I did not want to give you that attention though... In one particular situation I would of given a person all the attention in the world if they showed they'd be around once I learned to cope with greater issues in my life. Issues that they didn't and still don't even know about. Their obvious dissatisfaction in the relationship even before new problems arose, showed me that they probably would not be patient enough for things to work out at that point. Nevertheless, I gave the person the benefit of the doubt and some space hoping they'd understand. Can't lie it was selfish on my behalf but I was basing my assumption on our past history. Fast forward, long story short, the person forgot about me and ignorantly (as in unknowingly assuming) dwelled on the thought that I changed, instead of finding out what was really going on. Sad, but it's life and they're happy.

If I was around more and not all the way down in VA, old friends and other acquaintances would understand that I'm still the optimistic, good humored, madtreysongzintheituneslibrary, "Philly boul" that you knew back when. I still appreciate the a Neptune's production and I still order large pizzas from Papa Knicks on weekends. Dragon Ball Z is still my favorite cartoon and I still feel like Will Smith is my father. Hip hop soul and lyrics from Wasalu still drive my soul and daily existence. I will still make you a playlist so you can know me better. I still hold the door making sure future acquaintances get through safely and untouched, even if they already know my name. The Tribe is still on daily ear play, and I still have a playlist to sleep to. Aaliyah is still my wife and I still like being outside after the rain. Even though he's injury prone, McGrady is still my favorite Professional basketball player and Amare is still my favorite big man. Marc Zumoff and Steve mix still commentate games (shoutout to Moses SS) for my favorite basketball team. My love for McDonald's apple pies is definitely still there, and if I bring you around the my best friends from high school your either a cool down to earth individual or a girl who I marry. Ain't nothing changed but the address, y'all. I take back thinking that I changed because of the thoughts of others. I just have to prioritize sometimes to maintain sanity. Hope you can understand.

First off, Kanye and Cudi have provided some of the best albums of the year thus far (technically, rapgodfathers.com did, but you catch my drift), however, they are dark and erie. I'm not into that right now, and I partially blame the music I have been listening to for the mood that I have undertaken on this beautiful autumn day. Therefore, I will put a temporary pause to the dark twisted fantasies, and the sounds of coke being snorted in various intros, and bless my earlobes with some throw back N.E.R.D. You know, that Pharrell crooning with a punk rock feel... it brightens my mood.

N.E.R.D - IN SEARCH OF

Right now I am literally, thought-full. I don't know if it is my surroundings, diet or lack of exercise that has got me sitting in my bed for an extra hour every morning. I've been feeling stuck. I went through post on this blog from a year ago and I compared the different mentalities I had from now to then. The greatest difference is my optimism. I was headed for a new place, new surroundings with no idea what the hell to expect. Now, that I have been around the block a couple semesters, the repetition has once again been embedded into my lifestyle, and progression feels nonexistent. To keep it straight to the point: I don't fuck with repetition but I love progression. New scenery, new people, new experiences, that is my forte. If I don't get enough of that, I tend to throw myself in a rut of crazy thoughts, laziness, lack of motivation and worst off: creative droughts. My ambition right now is at an all time low. Correction, my ambition has not been this low since I found out I got into Masterman High and somewhat bullshitted the rest of my 8th grade year.

Even when I feel like this, I still try to be attentive in what is going on around me. I might throw a smile on to kill questions and act like the usual person that some of you know, (Mad cliche, I know. How many times have you heard the "hide my feelings behind a smile" reference in ANY form of entertainment. I'm sure that some of the people I am putting a smile on for are doing the exact thing right back. Actually, I know they are.) but you know how that goes... Anyway, my observations have led to both confusion and conclusions; positive, negative and neutral.

After starting off the year with a more outgoing state of mind, I have come to the conclusion that Hampton University was not the best choice in college for me. To all my Howard people, not because it is not the real HU (because it is), but because of the close mindedness that people force themselves to live with. The fronts and acts that people put on just to cast this image of being hard, wealthy, Gucci Mane or Wacka Flocka, kill a huge portion of the social aspect that I expected pre-enrollment. Pardon me for generalizing, because there are thousands of people that I do not know at HU, and there are probably a handful of people who do not fit my previous description, or feel the same way as me. Although, from my stance thus far, I see a surplus of "fraudulation" as my brother Melo use to say. Judgmental attitudes that cause people to shy away from being who they use to be, or who they are when they aren't in Hampton. Everybody tries to be cool... with swag (Haha, you don't know how much I hate that word, but it has reentered my vocabulary due to the constant usage of it down here). She got swag, he got swag. That makes them cool. I fuck bitches and get money, that's all that matters, 'BURR." Did I mention that, "I go hard in the motherfucking paint?" That was my rendition of the mentality in spoken word, excuse the French and save the applause. I could sit here and go on and on about this topic, which I feel drives the school socially, but you should get the point by now...

I am not bad mouthing my number one choice in college education, or the first school to give me the offer that I could not refuse (Thanks to Doc), nor am I blaming others for what could be my own ignorance. I am simply promoting my opinion on some of the things that bother me in this environment. People change, opinions change, at the end it is all a life experience. I might feel that there are fifty different schools that I might have been happier at, or maybe that I should of stayed closer to home. No matter what, I will not be living in Hampton, Virginia my entire life. I am down here to get a degree, a few close friends and a chance to enlarge my network. I am gone after that. I am blessed, there is no thought in my mind that says otherwise.

On another note, Hampton has already provided me with opportunities that I did not expect... I am now starting to take this photography thing a little more seriously... You heard the negatives, hear are some of the positives...

Me and my hermano Trevor hit the NYC streets for a day of shopping before he headed back to Silver Springs, MD. I must say, we ran into some nice deals in some very popular stores... or boutiques rather. Without planning our route of attack, we covered a lot of ground (no pavement) and gave thumbs up all around the South of Houston area. "Had to say it was a good day."

Last week was the American Tennis Association (ATA) National tournament. This tournament has played a crucial role in the history of tennis. My coach tells me stories of how this annual tournament was the only major tennis tournament that blacks were allowed to play in during the times of segregation. Every year this tournament is in a different location, last year it was in Miami (Very upset I missed it due to injury...). I have planned to play this tournament for the past four years but never got a chance to. However, this year my name was in the draw and I was actually able to play thanks to a man by the name of Dr. Scott. Although, I took a second round loss in the Men's Open Event due to piss poor preparation, I met players from all over the nation both young and old and got some practice in with fellow collegiate tennis players. Philly held it down taking both Men's and Women's Opens, Men's doubles and Mixed doubles titles. I plan to play this tournament every year from now on to carry on the tradition of the ATA. I enjoyed myself and got another chance to explore Atlanta.

The summer has treated me too well. I do not want to go back to Hampton, Virginia this fall.

Point blank.

When I am home I realize how stable and solid my Philadelphia foundation is. Right now, at this moment (always subject to change), I feel like Temple University would have been the move, maaaan. But I say that from the perspective of a person that has not yet enabled travel. Therefore, I will be taking my ass back to Hampton University for this upcoming sophomore year. It was official last week when I signed my tennis contract for the Fall and Spring semester. Not taking anything from HU, because that place has put me through things I never imagined I would be doing my freshman year, and blessed me with life long friends and the independence that I thought I had my senior year, but did I make the right decision? It seems like all of my friends from Hampton are eager to go back to school, but on the other hand ~~(I'm holding salt and pepper about to apply it too my cheese steak)~~ I do not even feel the Fall approaching. I think I only feel this way because my heart pumps off of the presence of sky scrapers... (because I definitely do not mind beign in D.C, even though Philly is way better) Or maybe because I love change in scenery and traveling... (I know if transferring credits was easier I would be at a different school each of my four years. I would still want to be a Hampton Grad though.) Regardless of my current thoughts, summer is almost over and decisions have been finalized. Although before it ends, allow me to continue enjoying it.

Most blogs these days tend to be filled with copied and pasted material. This blog is one of them. Although, I might use my own photos and material for the most part. I tend to run into some things that I must post on my blog just because I like it. Summer thus far has been different. Being home after living in VA for so long has caused the changes back at home to be much more visible. Its one thing, when your in the same area for a long period of time and the changes come gradually, but when your gone for a while they smack you in the face as soon as you come into the vicinity. Changes are not all necessarily bad, but they allow you to build a greater appreciation for the things that are still the same.

I want to know how the technician looked. I pictured the repair man from All That.

The summer is here and I'm excited, but not as excited as I thought I would be around this time.  As angered and upset as I might have sounded throughout my freshman year, looking back, I would not have changed a thing.  As I sit here in 420 Harkness Hall, overlooking the concrete battleground of hoopers, I see myself as a stronger person who can overcome any hardship you put me in.  There are eight other individuals, who I now see as family, that I know could make the same statement.  Hampton U has been a brand new experience for me with a collection faces and mind sets that I never encountered before.  As time has progressed, I know you may have heard be utter, "I'm not going to be here next year" or "I'm done with this school."  Nevertheless, when it's all said and done, this is a place I can know I can definitely grow.

Philadelphia, I miss you.  Best believe, you can find a note in my iPhone that lists ninety-nine things I want to do once I get home.  I definitely need to hit up Delassandro's with Dav to get what is arguably the best Cheese steak in Philly.  Iron Man is a MUST SEE, preferably in IMAX, and do not be surprised if you see me and some of my boys in our usual downtown habitat.  I have so many places to go and people to see, next weekend will be epic.

I bet mad people thought I was done with this blog. On the contrary, I am far from done with my personal blogspot. I mean you can't have enough greenE right? I'm somewhat relaxed right now, sitting next to my Hamptonian brothers Cam and Nile, engaged in the classic Boys in the Hood flick. The semester is almost done, and I have finally started to take on a new mentality as the warm weather brings out the best of me. Freshman year has been an experience that I surely did not expect. As I look at my year thus far, the past semester and a half, has been nothing close to what I imagined. Instead of being the outgoing, What's-up-nice-to-meet-you type of guy that I have grown up to be, I have been more of an onlooker taking in everything that has been happening.

Sometimes sitting back an making observations is what is necessary. I feel like Hampton is filled with the most popular people from each high school around the nation. With all of the popularity and egos stemmed from high school, it is a constant fight for who is the coolest, toughest person. Plus, everyone knows everyone at a small private college, therefore it is not hard to tell who is seen as the cooler bunch of individuals.
That is a brief summarization of my observations as a freshman at Hampton. In an environment like this, I am definitely comfortable being the low key guy that you might hear about, but you do not really know that well. I plan to be much more outgoing and involved on campus next year, but for now I like being irrelevant.

Last days of my winter break we're spent in New York City with the ORCL family. We shopped 'till we dropped (or until we realized what we couldn't afford) and enjoyed our four day stay. It was very cold that week but it didn't phase us at all. We had a great time in "The bachelors pad."

      My breaks been ridiculously chill. (Excuse the repetition if you happen to follow the ORCL worldwide blog. But that's what it's been... It is what it is.)  Chillin'. That's all I ever feel like doing (with the exception of New Years.  My NYE popped).  2009 was beautiful, and I expect 2010 to be gorgeous.  This past year has matured me in ways I cannot believe. I might not be grown, but I feel like it.  And I may not have the wisdom of an adult yet, but I'm confident in my decisions.  I remember hearing "2009" as my mom described the year I would graduate when I was little. I never thought the year would come, but after acne, Girbaud Jeans and a scratchy voice, it came and left.  Progress is running through my veins right now.  All I want is change and success.  I seem to have a knack for keeping people around me with similar goals, which is also known as motivation.  With positive people around me and so much desire to succeed, I feel like me and all the people in my circle will begin to leave a deep impression on... something.  I just don't know who or what it is yet.  I have so much on my mind, and I never feel at ease until I get it out my system. On paper, on blog, or in conversation I have so many damn ideas that need to be released.  This year I hope to take every idea I have and make it reality.  I hate bullshitting.  If I say something, I'm going to try my best to get it done...  That's my word. 

      This upcoming semester will possibly be the most complicated time span I've ever witnessed in my about-to-be-nineteen years of life.  School x My first NCAA Tennis season is going to be a handful.  If you feel that we have disconnected over these next few months, please know that that is probably not the case and we WILL catch up when the time is right.  The reason my friends aka family and I are so tight is that we don't have to talk everyday to remain close.  When you have a relationship like that with someone, you know that they are your homies. All the people that hit me with that "stranger" bullshit, which I know I've done too, keep that in mind.

      On another note, if you have not noticed, I tend to freestyle these blog post on some 106 and Park, Jin type stuff.  I just decided that I'm going to make an "offdat" list since there is a lot of stuff I can see myself discontinuing in oh-dime.

[My going away gift before I came back to Hampton after thanksgiving]

It has been a while since I have updated my blog. Partially, because I am not in the city I am oh so familiar to. It's hard to poke fun at people on the streets/campus in Hampton with post entitled, "GET YOUR MANS" and such, because what I'm laughing at is probably "the cool" thing to do where the victim is from. It's hard to blog about my life as a young Philadelphian, when I am outside of Philly, and the outcast of the situation. [i.e "Kenny, what the hell is a jawn?"] It's all love though, and I am not changing my slang for anyone, Boul.

This new environment has caused me to adjust, grow and understand how people, well black people, act in different parts of the country. I am now prone to different slang, wardrobes, accents, thoughts and ideas from African Americans all over the nation. However, when it comes to school, classes and the lack of skyscrapers, I am too used to being down here and so ready for this first semester to be over. Next season is tennis season and I am pumped. Aside from next semester, I am coming home FRIDAY. Philly WHAT IS REALLY GOOD?! I cannot wait to be home again. Thanksgiving break was short lived.

When I came home for thanksgiving, I was happy to find out that nothing has changed. My friends are the same family they were before I left. My Mom greeted me with a kiss and clean room while my beautiful grandmother who is suffering from dementia stood up and gave me the best hug of my eighteen years (I'm going to keep it real, I didn't think she'd remember me... Even though she can't hold conversation anymore and struggles to do everyday activities she still remembered the bad ass youngboa that she took care of everyday after he was away for three months of college. That was love. I thank God for that moment.). Being away from Philadelphia really showed me how much the city means to me. There is nothing like Philadelphia, PA and that is fact. You know how I know? When ever I see a girl who LOOKS like they're from Philly down at Hampton, I stop them and ask, "Are you from Philly?" I am usually right, 4/4 if you want to be specific. My point? Philadelphians are very distinct individuals that can not be confused with anyone else.

I've learned so much about myself while being away for school. I've realized how independent I actually am, how laid back I am in comparison to others, and how strong some of my values are. Regardless, I still feel the need to be closer to home... This five our drive is in the way. If I was in D.C all I would have to do is hop on a China bus on 8th street and I would be home in like an hour and a half... but that's another story... I am glad to be a H(I)U Pirate (Argh, bitch).

MUSICMUSICMUSICMUSIC.

Sadly, I have been sheltered from one of the greatest aspects of life; MUSIC. Even as a Pirate, pirating is almost impossible (Lime wire had to be deleted when I registered my computer). I do not have a car down here so I cannot even hit the mall up to purchase CDs (at will). Also, let's just say I have more important purchases to make then 99 cent tracks on iTunes. So basically, I am stuck with my iTunes Library (which I def cannot hate on) and GUCCI MANE ALL DAY EVERYDAY BECAUSE THAT IS ALL PEOPLE LISTEN TO DOWN HERE, aside from my man Trey Songz (Pause. Did that sound suspect? I think I listen to Trey Songz more than half of the girls down here... Please subtract a Goon point from my Thug statistics).

That is enough about me, nothing major has changed so let's discuss us. Just me and you baby. No, I'm joking... I mean "us" as in ORCL, the movement. I might sound repetitive, but seriously, everyone has been so supportive with the line. We have been receiving so much positive feedback from everyone in places all over the world. Philadelphia, thank you for getting us on our feet. When I say, "We're doing this for our city," please understand that the statement is honesty in it's purist form. In the meantime stay tuned to the specified program because WE WILL be dropping a dope winter collection. It's only right. (I bet you knew that was coming, didn't you?)

After a long day of laundry and van service, I have finally found the time to update my blog. *self-applause* In some of my last post I used the word "adjusting" quite frequently, but with a few minor exceptions, I can happily say that I am adjustED at Hampton University, in Two Up, Two down, Songzz, YUUUP!

But down here, I've been on my solo dolo. I follow noone, but accompany a few.

All the distrust stories I've heard in the past, are constantly in the back of my mind when I'm meeting people. I try my best not to depend on anyone else, cause the only person I can always depend on is the boul GREENE.

With that being said, y'all know I miss my Philly fam. Whenever I get a chance to check up on my boys, I try to shoot a text or two to their various locations up in the tri-state area. [Haha, it's not the same without y'all my ninjas!] I said it before, and I'll say it again: Hampton would be ten times better if just ONE of my boys were down here. Either way it's all good, I am enjoying myself.

These past couple weeks I was on the road and in ATL for some time. The Men's tennis team participated in the HBCU Invitational hosted by Florida A&M's Tennis teams. I ran into some of my fellow tennis players from Philly, whom both play D1 tennis at different schools [And yes, they're black. WHAT UP JEFF and PAUL]. Our team did not quite show what we're capable of at this tournament, but no worries... We will. However, our Women's tennis team finished in second.

Since I've been down at Hampton University I've met people from all over the world. I've heard accents from all over the nation, and noticed dialects from hundreds of townships.

One thing I love about traveling, whether it's from tennis, vacation or family visits, is the different way people use slang. Off the top of my head right now, I'm going to try and list some of the many different words people use down here. Whether they're sexual, random, off topic or what have you, I think it's funny how slang differs by region.

The word/ location/ meaning

[The word might be from a different/more than one region, I'm just going by who I heard it from]

Saving/ "D.C chillin', PG chillin', my names..."/ Saving means your "wifed up" aka spending most of your time with one girl. It comes from the real meaning of saving, because your saving up [money] for the girl. I've heard that a lot since I've been down here. Let's see if that changes...
'Bama/ D.C/ A pretty girl who cannot dress. Let's clap for Ed Hardy. Baby phat, stand up.

Lowkey/ Everywhere except Philly (from what it seems)/ On the low. But you use it before the verb or adjective. Like, "We're lowkey ____."
Fakin'/ D.C/ Getting mad. Wanting to fight.

Tight/ NYC/ The act of being mad. I talked about this with Ash... it sounds awkward when someone says a girl is "tight."
Fie (As in fire)/ The dirty dirty./ When something is hot, fun, exciting or what have you, it's fi(re).
Hekka/ Californ-I-A/ Same meaning as "hella." Which is adverb that I'm assuming you heard before.
Becky/ Down south/ Oral sex to the male. I laughed when I heard this. I laughed at the next one too.
Bobby/ Where do you think? ...The same place they say "Becky"/ Oral sex to the female

STILLADJUSTING.

Down at Hampton I'm still trying to find my place. [G.I.F.I...] Being down here is such a difference from back home. Plus, I know for a fact that if I had just ONE of my boys down here with me, my entire experience so far would be altered dramatically [most likely in a positive way]. I don't really trust anyone yet. That stems from only trusting one group of people for so long. However, that will probably change. Especially because there's one person down here that I want to trust.

Classes start Tuesday, along with official Hampton Pirates tennis practice. Our first big match witll be at the end of this month in Atlanta [*lean... and snap*], at the HBCU Invitational. I've been trying to play as much as possible this week with other freshman. I'm hungry [figuratively and literally... I'm about to hit up the caf], and I have a list of names to prove wrong. My first day was slow. I got down to Hampton feeling isolated and confused [word to Nick Cannon in drumline, Haha. That movie keeps popping into my head]. I had no idea what to expect. But finally, my social skills kicked in and I began to meet other freshman from all over the country. I feel like I can already see who I'll be hanging with for most of the year at Hampton. I've also discovered that everyone I've met from D.C/Prince George County is mad cool [I think I'll be joining the "go-go" movement sometime soon, lol.]

On another note, there are so many beautiful black girls here. People were not lying about the Hampton's females. The funny thing is that only the freshman class is really here...

But regardless, I'm chillin'.

I'm waiting for classes to start because I don't want to get use to all of this free time. I came down here to GRIND.

I haven't been on my blog mode down here [lately], because I've been more focused on adjustment. However, I've still been taking shots here and there via iPhone [like always]. Here's a little taste of Hampton's freshman orientation. Nothing spectacular but I'm "feelin' it" [like the Jay-Z track.]

Last couple days in Philly. I'm about to be on a new campus, with no friends [yet]. Starting fresh, but missing what's not so fresh... Otherwise known as, what I'm use too. Yeah, I'm only in VA, but that's a big change for me, BECAUSE I'M SO PHILLY... It's kind of ridiculous.

So much will happen while I'm in a different state. Relationships between my friends, family and acquaintances will change. Even a strange, bittersweet relationship with a certain someone might come to a sudden hault (We'll see :/). The things I'm use to will not be a part of my everyday life. I honestly have no idea how I will react to this. I'll know by this time next week, I guess. Hopefully it's positive.

I've continued to say my last temporary goodbyes. Today, I said bye to one of my boys up at Villanova University who goes by the name of Ashley. She already started classes but took the time out of her schedule to hang out with the boul, Greene [it's appreciated... that's that Guala love]. The rest of the possé came up later. We ended the night at iHop, in our usual fashion: laughter.

7 DAYS. [NO CRAIG DAVID]

This last full week of summer has been full of change. I'm assuming it is change for the better, but I wouldn't put that on everything. My best friends are going off to different colleges and come Friday, I'll be down in Virginia with N.E.R.D, Clipse, and Chris Brown. Not really, but I will be down at Hampton University. I have no idea what to expect, so I am somewhat uneasy about the whole situation. It's like I'm not excited and not upset about going there, I'm simply content with the change ahead of me. Feel me? Well regardless if you felt or not, I haven't updated in a warm minute. Here's a recap of the past week...

Aside from the UPS portion of my week, I witnessed some of my best friends leaving me, but not just because of college.

[Malori left me this week. That means, I won't have anyone to keep my Mom occupied while I'm up to no good lol. I'm gonna miss her these next couple of months.]

[This was a pretty sad moment. We went to see Melo off the other morning before he left to Penn State. We packed up the whip and said our temporary goodbyes. If you go to PSU, look out for this brother. I know he's probably already making moves up there. I'm just mad he has class tomorrow though... that's drawlin'.]

[Rachel is one of my only other close friends that is leaving the state. Look out for her at Brown U. I am going to miss her. :( ]

Also, shout outs to my other close friends who have left Philly this past week. Curty and Giff, your missed already. So like Melo said, "let's get these 4.0's real quick." Haha.

Let's cheer up a little though, because this past week in Philly I witnessed some outrageous things. So once again, I apologize if this is your Pops, Uncle, cousin, relative or close acquaintence, but please get your mans... and woMANS in some cases.

[THIS WAS SO DRAWLIN'. So, I'm sitting with my friend Alecia over by Penn's Landing on this bridge/walkway. We're just sitting there talking and a couple comes over and sits about twenty feet away from us. After about five minutes of talking between her and I, we look over and notice that the couple is having sex. Haha, they had NO shame. They even switched positions. Luckily, they moved after the first round, however it was only about five more feet away just so they could use the wall as a prop. I'm not going to go into detail of what I witnessed, but if you really focuse on the picture above you can tell what they did last [*Cough* actually,whatthedudedidlast *Cough*]. After the fact, I realized we were drawlin' for not moving [we were there first!], but regardless... some one needs to get there mans, and his girl in the black skirt.]

[The same night after we somehow escaped the rain under the El entrance, we ran into this BOUL. He kept singing a song with his hermonica that went, "When it rains... it rains" [That was the chorus, verses and bridge by the way]. Then he would stop and speak to the people around him. However, when he spoke, he could not say something without saying it six times. Therefore, there was a lot of unnecessary talking coming from this man. It was funny at first but then the funniness died down [Like a funny commercial that gets too many spins]. But right before we left he revived the joke by saying, "When it rains, the cops even stop working!" There were about four officers standing around us, avoiding the rain, and they heard him all six times. Lol, get your mans... Before we left, he pulled a cig out of his pants cuff. That was the most goonish thing I've ever witnessed. I was convinced he was a thug.]

[As I was browsing through blockbuster the other day, I came across this movie, HoodRats 2. Whoever thought it was smart to make a sequel to a movie called HoodRats must have been on that kryptonite. Take another gander at this movie's cover, and please repeat: Get your mans.]

Aside from the movie, you can obviously tell that other people were effected by change this week... it must have been the weather... But anyway here is how the rest of my week went.

[These were no ordinary apple pies from McDonald's. They were "late night" menu pies. If you've ever gone to a Philadelphia McDonald's past about ten or eleven, you'd realize that late night apple pies are hard to come by. DJ DAV and I lucked up, and our orders were separated. Lol. That was great...]

[Word to the Hampton Pirates. The color is not baby blue by the way, it just came out like that. I'm excited to be on the team.]

Today, the second ORCL photoshoot took place. We're finally coming to a point where everything is situated. The site should be completely done soon. We haven't been rushing anything because when you rush, things don't come out as well. Keep your eyes open though, for what we're about to bring to you. Those who have shown support, it is GREATLY APPRECIATED. Believe, that.

Once again, I cannot post any of the actual photos from the shoot... but I can prove to you that we're as serious as we say we are. :)

TENNIS AIN'T SWEET

I found this video of some of the training that Roger Federer and many other tennis players take part in, in order to maximize their stamina and fitness. I recognize a lot of the training methods from some of my practices, others I've never seen. Basically, I'm just trying to show everyone that tennis is not sweet. If I can find the footage of Federer training in the Sahara desert, then I'll post that too.

MAD DECENT BLOCK PARTY

After working out at Plymouth Whitemarsh I quickly went home, showered and met up with DJ Dav on 12th and Spring Garden. This is where the Mad Decent block party was being held. At the block party everything was free, including performances by world famous Dj's on their label. I recognized a few names and DJ Dav filled me in on the rest. Dav was SO HAPPY to meet these DJ's, I def don't blame him... They got it poppin'.
